Who We Are

Sangeetalahari is a volunteer-led organization founded in 2001 with the vision to preserve and promote Indian classical music — especially among children and youth growing up in the United States.

At the heart of Sangeetalahari is our founder, Krishnaveni Vedula Sarma, who has worked tirelessly with dedicated volunteers to organize and execute every single event with care and community spirit. Her passion and perseverance have helped build a trusted platform for hundreds of young performers and their families.

Our Origins

What began as a grassroots effort to create more opportunities for young musicians to perform has grown into a well-recognized community platform, known for its consistency, dedication to cultural values, and nurturing environment.

Vision for the Future

As we approach our 25^th anniversary, Sangeetalahari is evolving — blending tradition with technology to make participation easier, improve artist collaboration, and reach new audiences. A new core team of passionate volunteers is helping drive this transformation through automation, digital tools, and strong community partnerships.

The Core Team: Roles That Make It Happen

Program Planning

Oversees structure and flow of each event — schedules, performance categories, stage coordination, and overall logistics.

Volunteer Coordination

Recruits, organizes, and supports the many volunteers who help during setup, registration, timekeeping, and backstage operations.

Technology & Automation Steward

Builds and maintains tools for online registration, scheduling, performer communication, and digital event management. Ensures all technical systems — from the website and databases to registration workflows — remain secure, stable, and easy to use. Proactively supports volunteers by automating repetitive tasks and helping the organization scale with confidence.

Artist & Teacher Relations

Coordinates with vocalists, accompanists, and music schools; assists with matching artists and ensuring performance readiness.

Communications & Outreach

Handles newsletters, email updates, event announcements, and manages social media to keep our community informed and engaged.

Partner & Venue Coordination

Works with temples, schools, and cultural institutions to secure venues and build long-term relationships for ongoing event support.
